ART FOR CHANGE IS SEEKING SHORT CHILDREN’S FILMS!

Art for Change (AfC) is putting on Hacia Fuera, its annual public arts festival in East Harlem (El Barrio) New York this summer, and is seeking short children’s films to be screened as part of the festival.

AfC is an organization that creates innovative art and media programs that inspire people to take an active role in social justice.  By merging art and community, AfC provides a space to explore social issues and celebrate the richness of cultural diversity.

About Hacia Fuera 2010

AfC is presenting its 3rd annual public arts and music festival, a weekend-long event celebrating food, music, performance, and public art.  Hacia Afuera (“to go outside”) will take place in Harlem’s streets, gardens, playgrounds and public community spaces Saturday, August 28 – Sunday, August 29, 2010.  The Hacia Afuera event is being produced in partnership with individuals, artists, and community organizations, creating a movement for the residents of East Harlem to take pride in their street. Hacia Afuera is an opportunity for residents, artists, and performers to reclaim public spaces in celebration of its history and culture.  This year’s festival will explore various themes related to immigration, including the effects on children of immigrants who are the next generation of our country.

Interested applicants should submit their film pieces by Friday, July 23, 2010.  Films should be no longer than 20 minutes in length and provided on DVD.  All applicants are encouraged to visit East Harlem in person or online prior to submitting their proposals.

  • Artist Bio
  • Film description, including dates and location of production

Proposals must be received by Friday, July 23, 2010, to be eligible for consideration.  All applicants will be notified by Monday, August 2, 2010 if film is accepted.  We thank you for your participation and look forward to reviewing your proposals!
